Marlins may make multi-year contract offer to Dee Gordon
The Miami Marlins are very happy with what they got from Dee Gordon last year, and they would like to see much more of what he can do for the team.
According to The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, the Marlins “will explore making a multi-year offer” to Gordon, who is the league’s reigning batting champ.
Gordon made the All-Star team for the second year in a row. He led the NL with a .333 batting average, 205 hits and 58 stolen bases.
Gordon will be arbitration eligible this year and is under team control for the next three seasons, after which he would become a free agent. The Marlins could potentially save themselves some money by signing him through his arbitration years and buying out a few years of his free agency.
Gordon made $2.5 million last season.
