Phil Jackson reportedly ‘has the itch’ to coach again

Over the weekend we shared an interview with you from Jeanie Buss, the girlfriend of Phil Jackson, who said she thinks her longtime boyfriend will coach again. Now we’re hearing even more similar things.

CBS’ Ken Berger wrote on Monday that “People close to the former Bulls and Lakers coach continue to say he ‘has the itch.’”

Jackson took the season off after leading the Lakers to a 57-25 record and second-round playoff exit. He apparently has something to prove after hearing criticism that he’s too old, or only interested in taking a job for the money.

A source reportedly told Berger that the criticism hurts Phil.

“People need to know he is not dead, and he is not 70,” Berger was told by the source.

The Knicks reportedly are the team most interested in hiring Jackson, and the thought was that he would be interested. But it looks like they may retain Mike Woodson as their coach. My guess is Phil would be interested in the LA jobs should either one become available.

Right. Because Mike Woodson has won numerous NBA championships! Good job, Knicks.
