1 notable team is still pursuing Kawhi Leonard
Kawhi Leonard still apparently has a lifeline from elsewhere in the Pacific Division.
The Golden State Warriors are still pursuing a trade for the LA Clippers star Leonard, according to a report on Thursday by Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo! Sports. O’Connor reported during his self-titled show that the Warriors’ interest in Leonard has not declined at all and that they continue to go after the former Finals MVP.
Leonard just completed his sixth career season with the Clippers. He will be entering the final year of his contract in 2026-27 (at $50.3 million), leading to questions about Leonard’s long-term future in LA.
Last season, Leonard posted his best individual season yet, averaging 27.9 points per game (a career high) to go along with 6.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists per contest. But he turns 35 later this year with an extensive history of injuries, which combined with the fact that he is on an expiring contract means that Leonard may be had for a reasonable price.
Meanwhile, the Warriors are desperate for another star to pair with Steph Curry (whose own contract expires in 2027 as well). With Jimmy Butler (torn ACL) already slated to miss a good chunk of next season, Golden State needs to get busy this summer in order to maximize their chances of contention in a rapidly-shrinking window.
The Warriors have also recently sniffed around LeBron James and are even reportedly ready to make a specific offer to him. But Leonard continues to lurk as a viable Plan B if Golden State really wants to go all-in on the 2026-27 NBA season.
Fans all said the same thing about Mike Trout’s latest injury
It is Groundhog Day all over again for Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels.
The Angels star outfielder Trout is once again headed to the injured list. Sam Blum of The Athletic reports that Trout suffered a hamstring injury during Wednesday’s loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks and is going on the IL as a result.
That led to everybody on social media saying (a variation of) the same thing — that it was only a matter of time before Trout got injured.
Classic Trout, you knew it was coming eventually

"The Injury List" is the name of Mike Trout's vacation home.
— Lastdance (@Lastdance_LL) June 18, 2026
The three-time AL MVP Trout had actually been enjoying an All-Star-caliber year thus far. Through 74 games, Trout was batting .234 with 17 home runs, 36 RBIs, seven stolen bases, and an AL-leading 54 runs scored. Most impressively, he had also played in 74 of the Angels’ first 75 games.
But Trout will be turning 35 in August and has been badly hampered by injuries in recent years. He has missed at least 32 games in each of the past five years running and has missed 80 or more games in three of those seasons.
Trout’s near-return to form had been one of the lone bright spots for the AL-worst 30-46 Angels this season. But with Trout now heading back to a very familiar place in the IL, the plunge into hell is just about complete for the Angels (especially given some of their more embarrassing moments this year).
Angel Reese mocks Caitlin Clark for flopping during their game
Angel Reese got to engage in her favorite pastime this week — messing with Caitlin Clark.
Reese and the Atlanta Dream faced off on Thursday against Clark and the Indiana Fever. In the second quarter at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind., Reese made contact with Clark, who was moving off the ball during a Fever possession.
Clark appeared to sell the contact a bit and successfully drew a foul on Reese as a result. In response, Reese openly mocked Clark on the court.
Reese began doing an exaggerated flailing gesture to express her belief that Clark was flopping. Here is the video of the incident.

— Shabazz 💫 (@ShowCaseShabazz) June 19, 2026
Clark may have drawn the foul there, but it was Reese who came out on top in the end. Reese finished with a team-high 21 points and 11 rebounds as the Dream won by a 108-101 final score to improve to 10-4 on the season while dropping the Fever to a modest 9-6.
The superstar guard Clark did not have too bad of a night herself, finishing with 26 points and seven assists. But this was just the latest chapter written in the rivalry between Clark and Reese, especially after a flagrant-foul incident between the two last season.
Jazz Chisholm exits game after an unfortunate foul ball to the nuts
Jazz Chisholm unfortunately failed the cup check on Thursday night.
The New York Yankees played on Thursday against the Chicago White Sox at Yankee Stadium in New York, N.Y. During the fourth inning of the contest, the Yankees infielder Chisholm experienced a moment that made every male fan cringe.
Chisholm fouled off a pitch from White Sox righty Sean Burke. The foul ball hit the ground and kicked back up to catch Chisholm … right in the family jewels.
The two-time All-Star Chisholm immediately went down to a knee in pain. He remained down being attended to by trainers for several moments and ultimately had to exit the game from there (being replaced by Yankees teammate Anthony Volpe).
Here is the video of the highly unlucky moment.
Not the best place to foul a ball off pic.twitter.com/Vp0HnvJ8JV
— Chris Kirschner (@ChrisKirschner) June 19, 2026
Chisholm, 28, is having a bit of a flat year, batting .229 with 10 home runs, 30 RBIs, and 20 stolen bases through 69 games. His pelvic region is probably feeling a little bit flat right now as well, especially since this is actually not the first time that Chisholm has fouled a ball into his own … well, balls over the course of the last year.
Lakers are being linked to 1 All-Star center in free agency
The Los Angeles Lakers could be going for broke as they look to fill the biggest hole on their roster.
Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren is a target for the Lakers in free agency this offseason, according to a report on Thursday by Dave McMenamin of ESPN. McMenamin notes that the Lakers have already done “due diligence” on Duren.
The 22-year-old Duren is a restricted free agent after posting a career year with the Pistons in 2025-26. Duren put up 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game and earned both an All-Star selection and an All-NBA Third Team nod.
That said, Duren tanked his market a bit with a shaky postseason performance for Detroit in which his averages fell to 10.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. While the Pistons still want to retain Duren (and have matching rights on any offer sheet that he signs), they reportedly may not go above a certain amount for him.
As for the Lakers, they are desperate for an impact big man to pair with franchise player Luka Doncic. In fact, Doncic recently even gave the team an ultimatum of sorts to add a top-tier center this summer.
Duren is high leaper who works great as a pick-and-roll lob threat and also has the upside to anchor a defense from down low. While that would make him an ideal pairing alongside Doncic, the Lakers might run into some trouble if one of these other can-afford teams decides to sign Duren to a max offer sheet.
Report: Nuggets could sign a very familiar player to Nikola Jokic
The Denver Nuggets are going back to the drawing board after a first round exit this year, and their first order of business could be to appease franchise center Nikola Jokic.
Denver is targeting veteran swingman Bogdan Bogdanovic as an option in free agency this summer, according to a report this week by Serbian outlet Meridian Sport. Bogdanovic currently has a $16 million team option for next season with the LA Clippers, which they are expected to decline.
The 33-year-old Bogdanovic, a former first-round pick, has been in the NBA since 2017. He is known as a stellar off-the-dribble scorer and had his best career season with the Atlanta Hawks in 2023-24, averaging 16.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game primarily as a sixth man.
Bogdanovic has been with the Clippers since 2025. But he fell out of favor with the team last season, averaging just 7.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 19.7 minutes per game. Bogdanovic was also limited to just 23 total games played due to management of a lingering hamstring issue.
Meanwhile, the Nuggets three-time MVP center Jokic is very familiar with Bogdanovic. Both players hail from Serbia and have acted as co-stars on the Serbian national team (including when Serbia won silver at the 2016 Rio Olympics and bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics).
Denver went 54-28 this past season but lost in six games during the first round to the Minnesota Timberwolves. They could be making a number of big changes this offseason, but Bogdanovic stands out as a potential buy-low reinforcement for the Nuggets who also has superb chemistry and history with Jokic.
Sauce Gardner clears up bizarre confusion about his age
A lot of people have spent Sauce Gardner’s entire career getting his age wrong.
The Indianapolis Colts cornerback is 24, but for a long time, only NFL.com listed him that way. Other sources say he was born in 2000, including ESPN, Pro Football Reference, and even Madden games.
“It’s wrong in Madden, too? That’s crazy because I never checked,” Gardner told James Boyd of The Athletic. “Because when it comes to the paperwork and everything I’ve signed, it all says ’01. So, I don’t know where or how it got messed up unless people just get it straight from Google.”
To be clear, Gardner’s NFL teams have had his age correct ever since he was drafted. Everyone else has it wrong for some reason, including Wikipedia, which may be where the inaccurate age started to circulate.
Gardner was traded from the New York Jets to the Indianapolis Colts last November. The two-time All-Pro cornerback is preparing for his first full season with the team. Some of his fans will now get to embrace the fact that he is a year younger than previously thought, too.
Luka Doncic has told Lakers to make 1 big change to roster
Luka Doncic is definitely the centerpiece of the Los Angeles Lakers, and he is making the roster demands to back that up.
Doncic has made one clear roster request of GM Rob Pelinka and coach JJ Redick. He wants a star center to complement his game, and has asked the Lakers to find one.
“Luka’s first and foremost desire is an A-list center,” a source told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.
The desire is, in fact, nothing new. The Lakers have been trying to find the right fit at center for well over a year. They thought they found it in Mark Williams, but they called off a trade for him due to medical concerns. Last season, they tried to make things work with Deandre Ayton, but he proved a poor fit and faced serious questions about his effort throughout his tenure with the team.
The Lakers have a long to-do list this offseason. They want to try and keep LeBron James and Austin Reaves while pursuing roster upgrades elsewhere. Doncic has given them plenty to consider, but it is very clear what he thinks their priority should be.
While the Lakers have been linked to a few centers this offseason, they would not necessarily be characterized as “A-list.” Those are hard to find, and the team simply might not have the financial flexibility to land one.
Lane Kiffin makes big guarantee about his LSU tenure
LSU head coach Lane Kiffin is not shying away from high expectations when it comes to his new role.
Kiffin appeared on the “In The Bayou With Tyrann Mathieu” podcast this week, and essentially promised that the Tigers will win at least one national title during his tenure. He did somewhat cautiously add that it might not necessarily happen right away, though.
“I don’t know how fast it’s going to happen, but we’re going to win a national championship,” Kiffin said. “We’re going to have the teams and the rosters back to the way they were playing when they were great. I don’t know how fast. It might not be today. But it’s going to happen, and I feel it in recruiting, too.”

It may not be phrased as boldly as it could have been, but Kiffin is essentially promising a title here. The confidence was telling, as it sounds like there is no doubt in his mind that this will come to pass.
That said, Kiffin is just recognizing the reality of what will be expected of him. Brian Kelly went 34-14 for LSU, but was fired because the team never got particularly close to contending for a title. Plus, good results should be the expectation in light of the financial resources being poured into the program.
LSU won its last national title under Ed Orgeron in 2019. They have not even been back to the College Football Playoff since then.
James Dolan confirms news that will worry Knicks fans
New York Knicks fans should enjoy their NBA title victory while it lasts, because it sounds like things will be a bit different for the organization next season.
In an appearance on WFAN Thursday, Knicks owner James Dolan confirmed he would not enter the so-called second apron to keep the team together this offseason. That essentially means the team’s payroll will be capped at $222 million.
“We’re willing to stretch, but there’s certain things in the NBA that you’d have to be suicidal to do, and we’re not going to do those. One of them is the second apron. Cannot go into the second apron,” Dolan said. “I’ll write as big of a check as possible, but I can’t write a check that goes into the second apron.”
"There's certain things in the NBA that you'd have to be suicidal to do. One of them is the second apron. Cannot go into the second apron. I'll write as big of a check as possible, but I can't write a check that goes into the second apron."
— SNY Knicks (@sny_knicks) June 17, 2026
– James Dolan on @CartonShowWFAN pic.twitter.com/KJFIccCnMf
The Knicks only have eight players under contract for next season if Jose Alvarado opts out of his $4.5 million player option. That would leave the team roughly $17 million under the second apron, with the likes of Mitchell Robinson and Landry Shamet set for agency. The team might lose one or both of those players as a result of those financial restrictions.
The desire to avoid the second apron is likely less about the money itself and more about the consequences that come with it. Any team that crosses that threshold would no longer be allowed to send cash in a trade, use the $6.1 million tax midlevel exception on a free agent, or pair multiple salaries together in a trade. That would significantly hinder the Knicks’ roster flexibility.
The Knicks do return most of their core next season. However, financial realities might mean that one of their star players will have to be sacrificed in the name of long-term flexibility.
Former 2nd-round pick is attempting an NFL comeback
A former second-round NFL Draft pick is trying to make a comeback despite not having played in the league since 2022.
Denzel Mims, the New York Jets’ second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, has signed with the Dallas Cowboys. He spent last season playing for the Dallas Renegades in the UFL.
Former Jets second-round pick Denzel Mims lands in Dallas. https://t.co/4LExp7gN94
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) June 18, 2026
At one point, Mims was seen as a high-ceiling prospect by the Jets, and he posted 357 receiving yards as a rookie in 2020. However, the team was essentially over him by that offseason, and he did not get many opportunities over the next two seasons. They ultimately released him in 2023, and he never caught on elsewhere.
Mims was a standout player at Baylor, where he had 1,020 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior. The Texas native will hope that his return home gives him an opportunity to make an NFL roster again.
The Cowboys have no shortage of wide receivers. CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens figure to get most of the targets, so Mims is just hoping he can latch on.
Tyler Kolek almost got tackled by police during Knicks parade
New York Knicks reserve Tyler Kolek had an awkward moment during the team’s championship parade on Thursday when police mistook him for a fan.
Kolek was celebrating by running down the barrier and high-fiving Knicks fans who had assembled for Thursday’s parade. He was not recognizable to at least a couple of police working security, however, who rushed in to stop him and looked ready to take him down. A team employee quickly stepped in to assure the cops that Kolek was, in fact, a member of the squad.

I swear I’m on the team bro 😂😂😂 https://t.co/7AJyNXAIfz
— Tyler Kolek (@tyler_kolek) June 18, 2026
Kolek was the Knicks’ second-round pick in 2024, and he did not exactly warm the end of the bench, either. He played in 62 games during the regular season and appeared in eight playoff games as well, though he averaged only 6.6 minutes per game in those postseason appearances. He does have some skills, though.
These sorts of embarrassing things do happen from time to time. However, one would not have expected this to happen in the middle of a championship parade, even if the player involved is a depth piece.
Jalen Brunson sends a message to his critics
A lot of bad Jalen Brunson takes have been unearthed since the New York Knicks guard won Finals MVP, but he is taking the high road — sort of.
Brunson acknowledged some of those old criticisms on Thursday, when he spoke at the Knicks’ championship parade in New York, N.Y. The guard did not address them directly, but the message was loud and clear: he took note.
“There’s a lot of people that have a lot of negative stuff to say. There’s a lot of people who have a lot of opinions,” Brunson said. “But when you prove them wrong, you don’t have to say s–t to them. They don’t deserve it.”

Jalen Brunson with a message 😤 pic.twitter.com/bBOiVtRnpE
It’s not hard to figure out who Brunson might be alluding to. Becky Hammon, in particular, has taken a lot of heat for something she said about the guard years ago.
Few will be doubting Brunson going forward after he won Finals MVP to top off the Knicks’ championship run. He averaged 28.4 points per game during the postseason, including 45 points in the Finals-clinching victory in San Antonio.
While Brunson is mostly brushing off the critics, his sister was not quite in as forgiving a mood. The guard doesn’t really have to respond in a meaningful way since he clearly has people willing to do that for him.
Eagles are reluctant to pay 1 star player
The Philadelphia Eagles have some concerns about handing a new contract to one of their star players.
The Eagles have yet to commit to defensive tackle Jalen Carter in the form of a new contract despite having two years left on his rookie deal. That is not an accident, according to Albert Breer of The MMQB. Breer wrote Thursday that the Eagles are “hesitant” to pay Carter, and that the team wants to see a bit more from him “from a character perspective.”
“If Carter won’t give them that flexibility now, maybe he’ll just wait another year. Which would make this a little like the George Pickens situation in Dallas — where a team might want to see a little more from a player, just from a character perspective, before committing long term,” Breer wrote.
One can understand why the Eagles want to see a bit more growth from Carter. He was involved in a high-profile incident last season when he got ejected six seconds into the season opener for spitting at Dak Prescott. He was also involved in at least one other questionable on-field incident, too.
On the other hand, Carter is already a second-team All-Pro and one of the best young defensive linemen in the game. He could certainly justify seeking a deal that makes him among the highest-paid at his position. The Eagles, however, are not willing to go there yet.
Corentin Moutet refuses to dial back profanities during outrageous interview
Corentin Moutet is definitely not the type who’ll ask to pardon his French.
Following the French tennis player’s 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win over compatriot Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the first round of the HSBC Championships at the Queen’s Club in London on Monday, Moutet obliged for an interview with BBC interviewer Jenny Drummond, who asked him about a 142 mph serve from Perricard.
It all started well during the interview, with Moutet providing a detailed response before accidentally dropping a profanity.
Drummond then said, “No f-bombs please,” but that was the complete opposite of what Moutet did next.
The world No. 36 responded with three more f-bombs, as the crowd cheered and laughed in the background.
Drummond asked Moutet one more time to “please keep it clean,” but once again received the same response, forcing the interview to be cut short, as Drummond apologized for how the conversation went.
Here is a video of the now viral interview.

That was not the first time Moutet turned heads with his behavior. During the 2022 U.S. Open, he took some jabs at an umpire following a first-round victory over Stan Wawrinka. In another instance, Moutet got into it with Alexander Bublik during a quarterfinal match at the Arizona Tennis Classic.
In any case, Moutet has advanced to the second round of the HSBC Championships, where he will meet Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Sophie Cunningham tried her best to prevent a live TV disaster
Thankfully for Sophie Cunningham, her side quest went generally smoothly.
With the Indiana Fever idle on Wednesday, Cunningham made her debut for USA Network’s WNBA coverage as a guest.
Before going on air, the Fever sent out a message via social media to remind their followers of the Indiana star guard’s TV gig.
“Sophie Cunningham is making her WNBA on @usasports broadcast debut tonight,” Indiana’s post read.
The former Missouri Tigers star saw the post and left a hilarious comment, reminding herself not to swear during the broadcast.
“Please don’t cuss please don’t cuss please don’t cuss,” the 29-year-old Cunningham wrote.
We cut the mic a few times… 😅 pic.twitter.com/947lZP0rlb
— USA Sports (@usasports) June 18, 2026
Cunningham seems to be laying the groundwork for a different career once her playing days are over. Many former pro athletes have found success in broadcast media, a path she could take down the road.
Cunningham is not the first Fever player to dabble with the mic this year, with Caitlin Clark making her broadcasting debut in February to help NBC cover a marquee matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks.
But it’s back to business as usual for Cunningham on Thursday, with the Fever hosting Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
So far in the 2026 WNBA season, Cunningham is averaging 10.1 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
A’ja Wilson posts a historically absurd stat line
A’ja Wilson is truly the gift that keeps on giving for the Las Vegas Aces.
Wilson was more than instrumental in the reigning WNBA champions Aces’ 86-76 win over the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Ariz., as she put up an incredible stat line.
The four-time WNBA Most Valuable Player lit up the Mercury for 33 points on 11/20 shooting from the field and 11/13 from the free-throw line. She added 10 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 assists and 2 blocks in 37 minutes.
In doing so, Wilson accomplished a feat no other player has achieved in league history.

The 29-year-old Wilson has been a walking nightmare for Aces opponents in the 2026 WNBA season. So far in the campaign, she is averaging 26.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.2 blocks, while knocking down 52.6% of her attempts from the field.
Those numbers are also translating into wins for Las Vegas, which clinched a spot in the Commissioner’s Cup championship after defeating the Mercury.
Wilson and the Aces, winners in seven of their last eight games, will carry an 11-4 record to their next game, which is against the Golden State Valkyries on Sunday at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
Baseball manager had an all-time crashout after his ejection
An independent professional baseball club manager had a major crashout during a game on Tuesday, and it was all caught on video.
James Frisbie, who is in his first season back as manager of the Lincoln Saltdogs, completely lost it while arguing a call during a game against the visiting Winnipeg Goldeyes at Haymarket Park in Lincoln, Neb.
Frisbie left the dugout to confront an umpire and contest a call at first base, where a Saltdogs player was ruled out. After some words with the umpire, he was ejected from the game, but his histrionics did not end there.
He tossed his helmet to the ground hard with both hands and continued to shout at the umpire before charging at a second umpire.
Frisbie viciously kicked the ground multiple times. His eruption reached its peak when he pulled out the first base and threw it away. Just when it looked like he had calmed down as he walked to the dugout, Frisbie turned around and unloaded again on the umpires.
Here is the video showing Frisbie’s eye-popping outburst.

The good news for Frisbie is that his explosion seemed to have given his team a shot in the arm, as the Saltdogs came away with a 7–5 victory.
Frisbie returned to manage the Saltdogs after leaving the club in 2021 to join the Detroit Tigers. After two seasons with the Tigers, he spent three seasons with the Washington Nationals.
Dan Hurley reveals dream White House game opponent for UConn
Dan Hurley has a tasty hoops idea for the White House.
After attending the historic UFC Freedom 250 on Sunday, the UConn Huskies head coach was asked by Charlie Cotton of TMZ DC for his thoughts on a potential college basketball game at the White House.
“That would be good, man,” Hurley said. “I think UConn should definitely be in it. Maybe UConn [vs.] Duke.”

— CHARLIE COTTON (@hicharliecotton) June 17, 2026
The UFC event over the weekend may have set a precedent for more sporting events at the official presidential residence.
College basketball games have been played at unusual venues in the past, such as on an aircraft carrier and in a Major League Baseball stadium. However, there has never been one played at the White House.
For now, such an idea remains nothing more than a hardwood fantasy.
In any case, a game between UConn and Duke would always attract a ton of attention, regardless of the venue, especially with how things unfolded the last time the two storied basketball programs shared a court.
During the Elite Eight of the 2026 NCAA Tournament, Hurley’s Huskies sent Duke crashing out of the Big Dance in dramatic fashion, completing an improbable 73–72 comeback win on Braylon Mullins’ game-winning 3-pointer.
Report: Major development on Trae Young’s future with the Wizards emerges
Trae Young’s time with the Washington Wizards could end up being just a short one.
According to Marc J. Spears of Andscape, Young is expected to turn down his massive player option for the 2026-27 season with the Wizards, opening a path for him to become a free agent as soon as Monday.
Young’s option next season is worth $48.97 million, but he can still re-sign with the Wizards, who remain the favorites to retain the former Oklahoma Sooners star point guard. However, becoming a free agent presents a bigger challenge for Washington to keep him.
The 27-year-old Young used to be the face of the Atlanta Hawks, who parted ways with him in January, trading the four-time NBA All-Star to the Wizards for Corey Kispert and CJ McCollum.
He appeared in only five games for the Wizards last season, averaging 15.2 points, 6.2 assists and 3.0 rebounds, while shooting 59.5% from the floor.
Washington’s stance on Young’s future may also be influenced by the direction the Wizards take with their No. 1 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
Many believe the Wizards will use that pick to select Kansas Jayhawks star Darryn Peterson, a talented guard with huge upside, but he would find himself in a crowded backcourt in Washington if the team ends up keeping Young.
