Steve Lavin should be brought back to UCLA so that I don't have to see his face on tv every day.

Almost exactly my sentiments. However, I would add one other item: Ben Howland needs to include a zone defense in his bag of tricks. Memphis was vulnerable to a zone this year and struggled when forced to play on the perimeter (the same is true for UCLA). Zones are the great equalizers when you feel outmanned in defensive match ups.

Zones also protect players who are in foul trouble. Two times in the last three games, Collison fouled out. Shipp and Westbrook had four fouls in the Western Kentucky game and had to back off of opposing players.

Tim Floyd at USC, who may have trouble controlling his temper on the bench certainly stresses great defense, and he has frustrated UCLA and Stanford with an assortment of defenses that includes the zone.

Yes, the game was winnable for the Bruins, but not in the manner that it was played.
