Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Floyd Mayweather Jr. is involved in a legal suit for an issue allegedly involving his bodyguards. According to the suit filed in Clark County district court Friday, Anthony R. Cliffs accuses Floyd Mayweather Jr. of having his bodyguards beat him up.
From the Las Vegas Sun:
“After Cliff tried to take Mayweather’s photo and made some comments about a potential fight for Mayweather, Mayweather replied that Cliff was disrespecting him and gave the thumbs-down sign to his bodyguards.
That was a “signal for the bodyguards to attack Cliff, which they then did, striking Cliff in the face, knocking, pulling or pushing Cliff to the ground,”’ the suit charges.”
The suit says the incident took place in the valet parking area of the Palms hotel in Las Vegas and that the bodyguards continued to kick Cliff while he was on the ground. The suit “accuses Mayweather and his company of assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligent hiring, training, supervision and retention of employees.” It also charges the Palms with not having enough security in the Valet area.
If this did happen, I’m guessing Cliff wasn’t exactly innocent. He probably taunted Mayweather about ducking Pacquiao like these fans did. Even if that did happen, in no way would that warrant the man being beat up by the bodyguards. I do wonder why it took so long for the suit to be filed if the event happened last year.
Regardless, you can just add this to the mounting list of legal problems Mayweather is facing. Ready for the lengthy list?
