Timing of release of these stories is always interesting, or am I the heir apparent to Al Davis as the Prince of Paranoia?

I can't remember the exact details, but I somehow recall in the 1980's the New York Times sitting on a story about drug abuse in the NFL. Jim Healy used to play a sound bite of Howard Cosell ranting how the newpaper the that released the Pentagon Papers held a story on drug abuse in the NFL.

And is it coincidence that the whole Reggie Bush mess didn't break from Yahoo until months after his eligibility was completed and he had dissed the convicted drug dealer/ girlfriend beater to go with other representation? And didn't the story get released a few days before the draft?

Larry, don't mean to steer the topic from your story, but talking about Reggie, USC may be in trouble with the NCAA again, this time over athletes and Super Bowl tickets. Volleyballer J. Killian scored a ducat from his brother-in-law, Matt Cassell, and even worse perhaps, Sophomore linebacke Malcom Smith may have garnered a pass from his brother, Giants receiver Steve Smith. The NCAA may spend volumes of documentation to establish just how long Steve and Malcolm have been brothers.
