The NFL is thinking about ways to curtail the national anthem protests, and one idea they’re reportedly considering is penalties under certain circumstances.
The Monday Morning Quarterback’s Albert Breer reported on Tuesday that the NFL is considering an idea of allowing home teams to decide whether teams come out for the national anthem. And if they do, there would be a potential 15-yard penalty for those who kneel.
Per sources, one anthem idea being discussed: Leaving it up to home team on whether teams come out for the anthem; if teams do come out for the anthem, potential that teams could be assessed 15-yard penalties for kneeling.

If there is a 15-yard penalty associated with kneeling, you better believe that head coaches and owners would actively get involved to dissuade their teams from doing so.
This would be an extreme measure that would almost certainly end kneeling, although players could probably come up with other ways to express their protests.
