Texas wide receiver Cayleb Jones (pictured left) reportedly has been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly breaking the jaw of Longhorns tennis player Joey Swaysland (pictured right).

Jones, who had two catches as a freshman last season, saw Swaysland talking to his ex-girlfriend at a bar on Feb. 22 and got angry, police told OrangeBloods.com. Jones allegedly punched Swaysland and fractured the tennis player’s jaw.

Swaysland needed surgery for the injury.

The woman in the middle, a volleyball player at the school named Khat Bell, told police “her relationship with Jones ended on bad terms and that he had been jealous ever since and has anger issues,” Orange Bloods reports.

Jones and Bell reportedly went to speak to the football team’s strength and conditioning coach for advice, and the coach gave police a sworn statement that Jones admitted to punching Swaysland.

Football coach Mack Brown reportedly is waiting for the legal process to finish before deciding on a potential punishment.
