This might initially appear to you as a headline written for immediate shock value. Au contraire, it is merely representative of Richard Willams’ thoughts. Richard Williams, for those of you unfamiliar with him, is the father of Venus and Serena Williams. He is no stranger to racial issues in tennis, nor is his daughter, Serena. But You Been Blinded points out that Richard Williams was exceptionally caustic in his comments about the white man recently. As he told the Deccan Herald:

Tennis is a prejudice game. Well, I’m Black and I’m prejudiced, very prejudiced. I’ll be always prejudiced as the White man. The White man hated me all my life and I hate him. That’s no secret. I’m not even an American, it just so happens that I was born in America. People are prejudiced in tennis. I don’t think Venus or Serena was ever accepted by tennis. They never will be. But if you get some little White no good trasher in America like Tracy Austin or Chris Evert who cannot hit the ball, they will claim this is great.

Must we revisit this subject again? It’s not my place to discuss how Richard Williams has been treated his entire life — I don’t have a clue. But I do know that any time a person says “I hate ___,” they’re putting themselves on thin ice. It also doesn’t help when you’re talking about most of the population either. Man, talk about going waaaay off the deep board here. Sheesh.

It’s one thing to complain about how he’s been treated, but to pass that feeling on to his daughters
is wrong. So they’ve been treated badly and not accepted? Hardly. The sport of tennis has revolved around
them for years. Serena doesn’t even play much anymore and I still see her commercials more than anyone
else. Richard Williams is one of those guys who feeds off racism so much he prolly just falsely creates it
in his mind so that he doesn’t have to accept that times have changed. He’ll always be angry and to me
      that’s just misery.

The Williams sisters have been bad sports for years, and have gotten away with it because of the double standard. The public and the media have only recently caught on to their act. Our host, LB, tried to open everyone’s eyes last year. Kudos for that.

The media created the monster that is Richard Williams with the double standard. Instead of calling him a racist for his previous remarks about whites in general and Jews in particular, they referred to him as a “provocateur” and enabled him to ramble on with his outrageous statements on every subject. I hope somehow this article gets back to Chris Evert so she can see what she got for kissing their asses and fawning over them when she was a TV commentator.

If the guy weren’t so taken with himself, he would have gotten his daughters real coaches who would have taught them proper strokes. Then, maybe they wouldn’t have had so many real injuries (along with all of the fake ones) and they would really be in the class of Chris, Martina, and Steffi. Oh well, too bad.

Richard Williams has poisoned the game of tennis with his prejudice and bigotry. How dare he suggest that white people hate him, I don’t hate him! And how dare he insult Tracy Austin and Chris Evert.
With this sick attitude, and deep-rooted hatred, it would have been better if he had never introduced his poison to the game of tennis or any other game.
Shame on him. People have bent over backwards to make him and his daughters feel accepted but that was never enough, it never is for a die-hard racist like him. I wish him and his family had never entered the world of tennis because all they’ve managed to achieve is to cast a shadow over the whole game.
