Man’s Marriage Proposal at UCLA Game Gets Rejected (Video)

We’ve seen plenty of marriage proposals that occurred in sports venues. In November, a Clemson offensive lineman proposed to his girlfriend on Senior Day. In May, an MMA fighter proposed to his lady after winning a match in the cage. Those were pretty sweet, mostly because they had happy endings. One man who proposed during the UCLA-Richmond game in December wasn’t as lucky:

I have to wonder if that was staged. The MC was there with mic in hand for the proposal while the kiss cam was going on, signifying she knew it was coming. She also had little empathy for the man getting rejected. Plus, failed proposals on the jumbotron are popular stunts teams pull during games.

Was it all an act? An LA Times reporter says UCLA told him it was not staged, so I guess we have to go with that. Hey, at least it wasn’t as bad as what happened to Roy Williams.

She asks him if he’s joking and he says “no”…that looked pretty real to me.

i think she says, “Is this for real?”  and he says, “no”…it isn’t to clear.

Lady with mic…maybe spit out your gum next time you’re talking to a crowd. Chomping gum on camera is gross.

It looks real to me, too.  Maybe the lady with the mic knew he ws going to propose, but I don’t think anyone knew it was going to be bad.  I feel for the guy. But I guess it would be worse to say yes if it’s not the right thing to do.

Uffda I agree with you.  It’s disgusting!
