Report: Frank Wren leading candidate to become Red Sox general manager
Former Atlanta Braves general manager is reportedly the frontrunner to take up the same position with the Boston Red Sox, according to a report.
Wren would replace Mike Hazen, who left to take charge of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Internal candidates, of which Wren is one, will get the first look, according to team president Dave Dombrowski.
Dombrowski said he would like to find a GM “as quickly as possible.” Will start interviews with internal candidates soon.

Wren was the general manager of the Braves from 2007 until 2014, though that reign wasn’t exactly a triumphant one. His power would also be very limited; Dombrowski, the team president, is calling most of the shots, from players to the coaching staff. That will probably limit the team’s candidate pool.
