George Springer: Off day will be ‘huge’ for us

October 18, 2017 by Gordon Dixon • Comments

The upcoming day off could be just what the Astros need after losing three consecutive games to the Yankees in New York.

The Astros left Houston with a 2-0 lead in the ALCS. However, they will return down 3-2 after the Yankees took all three games in New York.

After scoring one run in each of the first two games, the Yankees scored 19 over the last three games and are riding a wave of confidence as they are now just one win away from reaching the World Series. For the Astros, a day to regroup may prove to be beneficial ahead of Game 6. That’s what George Springer seems to think.

A good thing for the Astros is Justin Verlander is expected to start Game 6. A performance similar to his outing in Game 2 would go a long way in helping the Astros even the series and force a Game 7. The series is obviously not over yet. Houston has certainly painted themselves into a corner, though. Now, they have all day Thursday to think about how to get out.
