Giancarlo Stanton gets positive news after MRI on knee

Giancarlo Stanton

Giancarlo Stanton has played in just nine games this season because of injuries that have kept him out for most of the year, and he had another scare during Tuesday night’s game when he was forced to leave with a knee injury. Fortunately, it does not sound serious.

Stanton suffered a knee contusion in the first inning of the Yankees’ win over the Blue Jays either when he slid into second or third base. He was eventually removed from the game in the fourth inning, but Aaron Boone said Wednesday that an MRI revealed no significant injury.

Stanton has already seen one of his rehab assignments cut short by a new injury this year, but he has looked good at the plate and appears healthy. A clean MRI should be a relief for the Yankees, though they will likely continue to play it safe with the slugger.
