Los Angeles Angels fans are being left to say, “Here we go again.”
Angels manager Ron Washington revealed to reporters on Thursday night that star outfielder Mike Trout is going on the 10-day injured list. Trout is dealing a bone bruise in his left knee and missed the Angels’ contest on Thursday against the Detroit Tigers as a result. Washington did add though that Trout’s injury isn’t considered “too serious” and that Trout is not dealing with any structural damage.
The three-time MVP Trout was injured during Wednesday’s game against the Seattle Mariners. He was running hard down the first base line to try to leg out an infield single but felt some discomfort in his knee upon hitting the bag (video here).
An issue with Trout’s left knee could potentially be a big problem because that was the same knee that plagued him all throughout last year. Trout twice tore the meniscus in that left knee during the 2024 campaign and underwent season-ending surgery as a result (limiting him to a career-low 29 games played).
Now 33 years old, Trout managed to play in every game for the Angels this season before getting hurt on Wednesday. He had produced nine home runs and 18 RBIs but was doing so on an awful slash line of .179/.264/.462.
The Angels started out the year going a promising 9-5, including victories in their first four series. But the season has quickly become another familiar refrain for them as they have gone just 3-13 since then (with the oft-injured Trout now dealing with yet another ailment on top of it).
