Ross Stripling removed by Dodgers during no-hitter

Ross Stripling

Times sure have changed in the world of baseball.

Ross Stripling was removed in the eighth inning by Dodgers manager Dave Roberts on Friday night despite being in the middle of a no-hit bid.

Stripling had not allowed a hit through 7.1 innings against the San Francisco Giants, but he was removed after walking Angel Pagan with one out in the eighth. Stripling, who is two years removed from Tommy John surgery, was making his MLB debut and had a strict pitch limit. He had just thrown his 100th pitch of the game when he walked Pagan, leading Roberts to come out and get him.

As if not having the chance to finish his no-hitter weren’t enough, Stripling was replaced by Chris Hatcher, who surrendered a two-run home run to the first batter he faced.

Not only did Stripling not get a chance to complete his no-hitter, he also ended up with a no-decision after Hatcher blew the game. What a rotten turn of events.
