Yankees hopeful Didi Gregorius will return before end of season

The New York Yankees may get shortstop Didi Gregorius back before the end of the season after all.
Gregorius injured his wrist during Saturday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles, and there were initial fears that it may be a season-ending injury. However, Gregorius has apparently made progress, and manager Aaron Boone hopes to get him into a game this weekend before the regular season concludes.
Didi Gregorius was cleared to hit soft-toss and take ground balls. Boone said it’s “definitely an encouraging step.”

Boone said Didi will “hopefully” be able to play this weekend in Boston.

Aaron Boone is happy Didi Gregorius is feeling good, but…
"We’re not out of the woods. We’re in the early stages out of it. We’ve got to see how this day unfolds and how he responds, but hopefully he can get to that point where he’s full go.”

Gregorius is hitting .268 with 27 home runs this season. He was a major part of the Yankees’ run to the ALCS last season, hitting three home runs during the postseason run.
