Joel Embiid gets flagrant foul for smacking Marc Gasol in face
Joel Embiid was called for a flagrant 1 foul during the fourth quarter of Game 6 between his Philadelphia 76ers and the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night for some contact the officials deemed unnecessary.
Embiid and Toronto big man Marc Gasol got tangled up going for a rebound on a free throw. Embiid smacked Gasol in the face and they hooked arms. Gasol seemed to flop somewhat in response to being hit in the face, which worked.

Gasol made one of his two free throws after the flagrant. The call didn’t affect the game much as Philly won 112-101 to force a Game 7 in the series. Embiid had 17 points and 12 rebounds. He was an astounding +40 in the game thanks to his defense.
