Joel Embiid undergoes surgery, could return in two weeks
Joel Embiid is already in recovery mode and could be back before too long.
The Philadelphia 76ers big man underwent surgery to repair a broken orbital Saturday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports. Woj also says that Embiid could return in two weeks if he is able to tolerate the pain.
Embiid could return in two weeks, league sources tell ESPN. Much of his return date could be based upon pain threshold. Embiid will still need to be cleared by doctors to return. https://t.co/pJaKVhUP9x

Embiid got hurt in a collision with teammate Markelle Fultz on Wednesday night. He initially passed concussion protocol but was later diagnosed with a concussion on top of the orbital fracture that was discovered.
Once he clears concussion protocol, then it would be open to him to play through the orbital fracture. Players with similar injuries often wear masks upon their return.
The Sixers have won nine in a row and sit in fourth in the Eastern Conference. Returning in two weeks would allow Embiid to be available for the first round of the playoffs.
