The Miami Heat and Justise Winslow agreed to a 3-year, $39 million contract extension, according to a report by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Winslow’s extension comes days before Monday’s deadline for teams to agree with players beyond their rookie contracts. If the sides did not have an extension in place, Winslow would have been a restricted free agent after the season.
Winslow, 22, was the No. 10 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. He averaged 7.8 points and 5.4 rebounds in 24.7 minutes per game last season.
Winslow and the Heat had been discussing a potential extension and the sides were reported to have been coming close to a deal, so the two finalizing things comes as no surprise.
