Kristaps Porzingis has not played for the New York Knicks this season as he continues to recover from a torn ACL, but the big man is not pleased with what he has watched from the sidelines.
According to a report from ESPN’s NBA insiders, Porzingis met with Knicks officials on Thursday to voice concerns about the direction of the franchise and a culture of losing that has seemingly developed in recent years.
Porzingis wants to play for a winner in New York, but is searching for clarity on his future role with the team and Knicks direction. Porzingis — out with an ACL injury — can be a restricted free agent this summer. https://t.co/JtZzQ02FCI

The timing is interesting, as there have been rumblings that the Knicks could be serious contenders for Anthony Davis, who requested a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans this week. Any trade between the Knicks and Pelicans involving Davis would likely have to include Porzingis.
The Knicks are 10-40 and look like one of the worst teams in the NBA. Not having Porzingis obviously hasn’t helped, but even he probably wouldn’t make them a contender at this point. With Porzingis set to become a restricted free agent after the season, he is clearly sending the Knicks a message that he wants the team to either make an effort to improve or let him pursue opportunities elsewhere.
