Lakers coach Miles Simon diagnosed with pneumonia after stretcher incident
Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Miles Simon has been diagnosed with pneumonia following a stretcher incident on Thursday night.
Simon was taken away on a stretcher after the Lakers’ preseason game against the Sacramento Kings due to a medical issue.
Lakers assistant coach Miles Simon was carted through Staples Center after the game on a stretcher and accompanied by medical personnel. He was sitting up and conscious. Lakers coach Luke Walton said he was not going to speak about Simon’s condition.

The team now says that Simon has pneumonia and will not be on the bench for the team’s game on Saturday.
The Lakers say assistant coach Miles Simon has been diagnosed with pneumonia after leaving Staples Center last night on a stretcher. He will not be on the bench for the Lakers game versus the Clippers on Saturday in Anaheim.

Simon was a star college player at Arizona, where Lakers head coach Luke Walton also played (their careers missed overlapping by a year). Simon, 42, is in his second season as an assistant for the Lakers.
