Report: Luke Walton will not consider coaching offers until offseason
The New York Knicks firing Derek Fisher as head coach on Monday led to immediate speculation that they might be interested in Luke Walton. Unfortunately for them, it sounds like Walton may not be ready to discuss coaching jobs just yet.
ESPN’s Marc Stein reports that Walton will not consider head coaching offers until the offseason:
ESPN sources say Luke Walton is determined to see out this season in Golden State and not entertain head coaching offers until the offseason

Walton played 10 seasons in the NBA, winning two championships under Knicks exec Phil Jackson with the Lakers. He became an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors last season under Steve Kerr. This season he acted as interim head coach of the Warriors while Kerr recovered from back surgery. He led the team to a 39-4 record, winning back-to-back Coach of the Month honors, and setting a record with 28 consecutive wins to start the season.
If the Knicks are interested in Walton, they would likely be met with competition from the Lakers for his services.
