Paul George wants free agency destination to be his last team

Paul George

Paul George will be a free agent after the season, and he wants whatever team he signs with to be the final one he plays for.

George said Saturday that he wants to build something long-term wherever he chooses to go in free agency and that he doesn’t want to bounce from team to team during the latter half of his career.

“I’m not looking to bounce around and play for multiple teams throughout my career,” George said, via Erik Horne of the Oklahoman. “The decision I make will ultimately be to build something. So, this next decision, whatever it is, is to make sure I’m there for a duration.”

George asserted that he has had no talks with the Oklahoma City Thunder about his future and he doesn’t know what he’ll do when the season ends. In his mind, that makes the interpretations of his comments about his future amusing.

“I think that’s just the media. They see a headline and immediately, they jump to conclusions,” George said. “It’s funny. At the end of the day, I know where my decision lands, what my decision is, and that’s all that matters.”

Fans of George’s hometown team definitely want him to come back there, but the Thunder will want him to stay, too. There will be other interested parties as well. Whatever decision George makes, he says he’ll be in it for the long haul.
