The Memphis Grizzlies’ coaching search apparently will even extend to European candidates.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Brian Windhorst reported on Wednesday that the Grizzlies have Sarunas Jasikevicius on their radar as a potential head coach.
Jasikevicius played two seasons in the NBA from 2005-2007, beginning with the Indiana Pacers and ending with the Golden State Warriors. Though he was born in Lithuania, the 6-foot-4 former guard played high school ball in Pennsylvania and went to college at Maryland. He played four seasons under Gary Williams at Maryland from 1994-1998.
Jasikevicius has developed a reputation for getting the most out of his teams during his three seasons coaching Zalgiris in Lithuania. He was also considered by the Toronto Raptors last year before they hired Nick Nurse.
