Lane Kiffin had some fun with Kirby Smart during the Ole Miss-Georgia football game on Saturday at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga.
Kiffin called a timeout to try icing kicker Peyton Woodring prior to a Georgia field goal attempt before halftime. As an official approached him, Kiffin was shown telling the referee “I’m clapping.”

Kiffin was just goofing around with that, and the officials did stop the game for a timeout. Woodring later converted on his 35-yard attempt to close it to a 21-20 game at halftime.
What was Kiffin doing?
Kiffin claiming that he was clapping was a reference to a controversy that occurred in the Georgia-Auburn game the previous week. Georgia coach Smart was seen signaling for a timeout.

lol this is absolutely absurd tonight with SEC officials.

However, he changed his story and told the officials that he wasn’t actually calling a timeout. Rather, he said he was clapping to mimic what he said Auburn’s defense was doing.
Smart may have gotten away with one against Auburn, and Kiffin was having fun with the situation a week later.
Kiffin was trying to keep his Rebels undefeated as they played in the tough road contest at Georgia. Kiffin spent all week having a good time with Smart.
