Malachi Dupre commits to LSU

Malachi DupreLSU landed one of the best recruits in the Class of 2014 on national signing day Wednesday, as five-star wide receiver Malachi Dupre officially committed to the Tigers. Dupre played high school ball at John Curtis Christian High School in River Ridge, La., so many expected him to join Les Miles and company.

Dupre is a 6-foot-3 speedster who is ranked as the No. 2 wide receiver in his class. He had also considered Alabama and Florida State, but ultimately chose to remain in-state. Dupre hauled in 70 catches for over 1,400 and 21 touchdowns between his junior and senior seasons.

Dupre admitted earlier this week that he was loving the signing day attention and was blatantly playing games with the different fan bases. At one point, he even retweeted an optimistic tweet from a Seminoles fan. He also confirmed a story about LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron being on the same flight with him to Los Angeles.

Within a five-minute span on Wednesday, LSU landed Dupre and defensive tackle Travonte Valentine, who is the No. 2-ranked DT in the Class of 2014. Running back Leonard Fournette, the No. 1 overall recruit in the class, has already committed to LSU.

A strong incoming class is getting stronger by the minute for the Tigers.
