Adam Gase isn’t exactly helping his cause when it comes to convincing the public he should continue as head coach of the Miami Dolphins.
Not only has Miami started off 1-4 under Gase’s guidance, but the first-year head coach is also being negative in describing his team. He called his offense “inept” after a 30-17 loss to the Titans on Sunday.
“We’re inept right now,” Gase said after the game via the Palm Beach Post. “We’ve just got to figure something out. We tried to slow it down today, and huddle, and we only had 41 plays and eat up 23 minutes. We’re not getting enough first downs. We had a chance there on the third-and-1, and the ball gets batted down. We think we’re in the end zone to be down by three and we get a holding call. It just seems that we can’t get out of our own way right now.”
The offense only generated 10 points on 10 drives in the game, as seven of the team’s points came from a punt return for a touchdown. The offense entered Week 5 28th in the league in points and 26th in total yards, which helps explain their poor record.
For Gase, who calls the team’s plays in addition to serving as head coach, the offense’s lack of performance overall is an indictment of his coaching.
