Amari Cooper has been arguably the most important piece of the Dallas Cowboys’ offense early in the season, so the team had better hope the injury he suffered during Sunday’s game against the New York Jets is not serious.
Cooper left the game early in the first half with a quad injury. He was evaluated on the sideline and later seen without a helmet on, indicating he may not return.
Amari Cooper doesn’t have his helmet. He’s standing over by Devin Smith, who is inactive. Cooper’s day might be done https://t.co/IlHfvpROru

Cooper has been battling foot and ankle injuries all season and already admitted he was playing at less than full strength. The quad issue sounds unrelated, and a new injury certainly isn’t ideal for a player who was already banged up heading into Sunday.
After he caught six touchdown passes in nine games for the Cowboys last season when he came over in a trade with the Oakland Raiders, Cooper had 32 catches for 512 yards and five touchdowns entering Week 6. The Cowboys take on the Philadelphia Eagles next week before their Week 8 bye.
