Report: Andrew Luck still working to get velocity back
Indianapolis Colts fans should feel good about the fact that Andrew Luck is going to start in Week 1 for the first time in over a year, but they should also expect some growing pains for the foreseeable future.
Luck looked fairly sharp in Saturday’s preseason win over the San Francisco 49ers, completing 8-of-10 passes for 90 yards and a touchdown. While his accuracy was impressive, Stephen Holder of The Athletic noted that Luck’s “fastball” still isn’t where it was pre-injury.
I have consistently said throughout camp that I don’t believe Luck’s “fastball” is where it needs to be. This is something he’s acknowledged and believes will come with time. It’s still early in the process considering when he actually started throwing.
Accuracy is tho. https://t.co/D4MKFQI7Sl

We all know how long Luck rehabbed after having shoulder surgery, so it’s no surprise his arm strength is less than 100 percent. There has been evidence that Luck is in outstanding physical shape, so perhaps the lack of zip on his throws has been as much mental as physical.
