New York Jets running back Bilal Powell will miss the remainder of the year after he was placed on injured reserve Wednesday with a neck injury, and apparently being out for the 2018 season is not his biggest concern.
On Wednesday, Jets head coach Todd Bowles told reporters that the injury Powell is dealing with is one that could threaten his career and is more serious than the neck injury wide receiver Quincy Enunwa suffered last season.
Wow. Todd Bowles says Bilal Powell requires season-ending surgery on his neck, that’s why he’s on IR. Says it could be career-ending. It’s more serious than the one Enunwa suffered last year.

That is obviously terrible news, and we can only hope Powell is able to make a full recovery. Neck injuries are always frightening, so being able to play football again may not be at the top of Powell’s priority list.
Powell, 29, rushed for 343 yards on 80 attempts this season.
