Brandon Marshall: Bears are not confident
Road games against the New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers have quickly exposed the Chicago Bears as one of the worst teams in the NFL. The Bears are incapable of coming up with any stops on defense, and Jay Cutler makes too many mistakes to compensate for it. As a result, Brandon Marshall is not feeling great about the state of his team.
While hosting his weekly spot on “Inside the NFL,” Marshall spoke candidly about his team.
“[Did] you see those highlights? Man, that was probably one of the most demoralizing games I’ve been in,” he said, according to Pro Football Talk. “I mean, I’m at a loss for words. I think everyone is at this point. … When adversity hits, what type of person are you going to be? Are you going to give up or are you going to fight? And that’s where we are at right now. … Life is tough right now. You know, walking outside, going to the grocery stores, looking at the fans in the eyes. This is bad all around.”
And Marshall doesn’t exactly sound convinced that the Bears can turn it around, either.
“Confidence is everything,” he said. “And when you lose your confidence, it’s over. You don’t have a chance. And right now, that’s where we are at.
“It all starts with confidence. When you are looking at 3-6, there’s not much hope. There’s not much confidence. That’s just the reality of this. It has nothing to do with the Chicago Bears. It’s just the reality of life.”
Marshall laced into some of his teammates after a loss earlier this year, but it didn’t seem to help. The Bears are 3-6 with a home game upcoming against the Minnesota Vikings. If Marc Trestman’s team wasn’t 0-3 at Soldier Field this season, we’d speculate that this could be a good bounce-back week for the Bears. At this point, it seems like all is lost.
