On Tuesday, Tony Romo effectively passed the torch to Dak Prescott. On Wednesday, it was the firmly entrenched rookie quarterback’s job to praise his veteran mentor.
Prescott had nothing but praise for Romo as a leader and a mentor a day after the veteran quarterback effective handed the keys to the Dallas Cowboys over to his rookie protege.
“He’s been a great leader, a great model for me to look up to and watch every day,” Prescott said, via Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk. “It was an emotional statement for him to say that, but I’m not surprised. I know how much he cares about this game, how much it means to him, how much he puts into it every day, how much this team means to him.”

Prescott disputed the notion that the Cowboys were now his team, though.
“This is everybody’s team. It’s not just about the quarterback position,” Prescott said.
Prescott continues to say all the right things, just as Romo continues to do all the right things. As far as quarterback controversies go, this seems to have gone as smoothly as one could hope.
