Drew Brees works out without thumb brace Friday
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees continues to make steady progress in his recovery from a thumb injury.
Brees was seen practicing without his thumb brace on Friday. It was a light workout, however, that saw Brees run some routes but not participate in anything strenuous.

Brees will not play this week, and Week 7 is not likely either. The quarterback is believed to be shooting for a Week 8 return, though nothing is set in stone and the organization isn’t saying anything right now.
The Saints have won three in a row with Teddy Bridgewater under center. As long as that keeps up, the Saints won’t feel any urgency to rush Brees back until he’s completely ready.
