Gardner Minshew will start Sunday for Jaguars
After three games on the bench, Gardner Minshew is returning to the Jacksonville Jaguars’ starting lineup.
Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone announced on Monday that Minshew will start at quarterback for the Jaguars against the Los Angeles Chargers next Sunday. That will relegate Nick Foles back to the bench.

The move makes sense. Foles started three games after returning from injury, won none of them, and turned the ball over three times in the first half Sunday before being benched at halftime. Minshew has at least given the Jaguars a chance to be better, and he’s earned the right to start for the remainder of the season.
Foles signed a four-year, $88 million deal with Jacksonville during the offseason, and he broke his collarbone in the first game of the year. Minshew then kept the team in the playoff hunt for several weeks before having his first multi-interception game in a loss to the Houston Texans earlier this month. The Jaguars decided to turn back to Foles after that.
It’s unclear what the Jaguars will do now, as they have already given Foles $50 million guaranteed. They could try to trade him if Minshew plays well down the stretch.
