Report: Giants to elevate Davis Webb to backup QB
Davis Webb will finally be active for a game this season.
The New York Giants plan to elevate Webb to backup quarterback for their season finale on Sunday, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.
Another turn in the QB roller coaster of the #Giants: They plan on deactivating Geno Smith this week, as rookie Davis Webb will be the backup. This opens up the possibility that Webb will get snaps, as Smith did earlier.

Webb was a third-round pick by the Giants, but he has been No. 3 on the team’s depth chart at quarterback behind Eli Manning and Geno Smith all season. This would mark his first time being active all season.
Webb saw some first-team reps at practice last week, indicating he was moving closer to receiving a look in game action from the Giants. New York hosts Washington in Week 17.
