Giants reportedly less likely to draft quarterback at No. 2
The New York Giants reportedly may not go quarterback with the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft.
After the NFL Combine, ESPN’s Jordan Raanan says that the Giants are less likely to use the second overall pick on a quarterback. There are several reasons for this, including the fact that the crop of quarterbacks is not getting consistently rave reviews from scouts.
Coach Pat Shurmur stated a desire to land a franchise-changing player, which could lead them to Penn State’s Saquon Barkley, if he is available, or Notre Dame offensive lineman Quenton Nelson.
This simply makes the most sense for the Giants. They need help now, and if they’re sticking with Eli Manning, there’s no sense using the pick on a quarterback. It won’t come as welcome news for one top quarterback prospect, but that’s simply the right call.
