Jay Ajayi to sign with Eagles in wake of Darren Sproles injury
Jay Ajayi is said to be fully recovered from a torn ACL he suffered last year, and the veteran running back is set to return to his old team.
Ajayi worked out for the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday and is expected to sign a contract with the team, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports.
The #Eagles intend to sign FA RB Jay Ajayi, source said. He worked out this morning and they are deep in talks. The top veteran still available, he’s healthy after an ACL tear and returns to the team that traded for him in 2017. Helps make up for the loss of Darren Sproles.

Darren Sproles will miss the rest of the season after he was diagnosed with a torn hip flexor, and starting running back Jordan Howard has been listed on the injury report this week with a shoulder injury. Ajayi is familiar with Doug Pederson’s offense and will give the Eagles added depth at the position.
Ajayi, 26, was acquired by the Eagles in a trade with Miami in 2017 and played seven games for them that season, rushing for 408 yards and a touchdown. He scored three touchdowns and rushed for 184 yards in four games. He also worked out for two other teams over the past three weeks since he declared himself ready to return.
