If and when Kirk Cousins becomes a free agent, the Cleveland Browns are going to have a tough time selling him on anything other than big contract. Fortunately, they have veteran offensive lineman Joe Thomas to think outside the box with his recruiting pitch.
On Thursday morning, Thomas made his pitch to Cousins. Basically, he wants Cousins to consider how much of a legend he would be if he rescued the most tortured franchise in football.
I hear Cleveland is nice this time of year, that is, if you’d like to have a statue someday… https://t.co/Geo5CzvI5J

You could make MORE money and MORE history in Cleveland than anywhere else, by FAR. Don’t just go and be another quarterback somewhere else! https://t.co/tVPqv8pdPB

Cousins is going to get paid no matter where he goes, so money shouldn’t be a huge factor. He has said winning will be a priority, which in theory would put Cleveland at or near the bottom of his list. That being said, the Browns have a ton of salary cap space and high selections in the upcoming draft. If nothing else, Thomas is right that Cousins would have an opportunity to become a hero.
As we have already seen with Von Miller’s recruiting pitches, plenty of teams want Cousins as their next quarterback.
