Mike Zimmer denies that Stefon Diggs was disgruntled in Minnesota

Mike Zimmer

Stefon Diggs certainly seemed to indicate that he wouldn’t mind being traded by the Minnesota Vikings before it actually happened, but his former coach doesn’t think that was the case.

Mike Zimmer said on Thursday’s “The Rich Eisen Show” that Diggs wasn’t offloaded due to being a troublesome presence on the team.

“Really, if you said somebody was a pain in the butt, you probably wouldn’t say him,” Zimmer said, via Kevin Patra of NFL.com. “I’ve been around way worse guys than him. I hope he has a great career and finishes up strong.”

Zimmer said that the team hadn’t had any intention of trading Diggs, but between the team’s lack of cap space and the draft pick haul the Buffalo Bills offered, they felt the deal was too good to pass up.

The Vikings maintained all along that Diggs was happy with the team. Diggs dropped plenty of hints otherwise. Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter now, but the organization’s stance on the former wide receiver remains odd to say the least.
