Oscar Robertson may be 86 years old now, but he definitely still knows how to roast dudes.
Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green made some controversial comments several days ago in which he called the NBA “boring.”
“It’s not smart basketball,” said Green of the modern NBA. “It’s just who can run faster, who can hit more 3s, it’s no substance. I think it’s very boring.”

During an appearance this week on SiriusXM NBA Radio, the retired basketball icon Robertson hit back at Green with a ruthless response.
“Draymond says so much. Who cares what Draymond says?” replied Robertson. “The game is what it is. People either like the game or they don’t. And I think people enjoy the game, especially if their team can win.
“The basketball, it might be boring to him because if he’s not passing the ball to [Steph] Curry, what he is doing?” Robertson added of Green. “Not to single that out because I think he knows how to play basketball. But he’s passing the ball to Curry more than anyone I’ve ever seen in basketball … It might be boring to him at times because of what he’s doing, Maybe it is boring when he’s out there. He’s not shooting a lot, and he’s not guarding a lot. So it’s boring.”
The former MVP Robertson, a pioneer of the game who helped grow the NBA to what it is today, is right that the comments sound a little odd coming from Green, a lower-usage role player who is far from the No. 1 option on his own team. Green also made a point of commenting about the emphasis on “who can hit more 3s” … when his longtime teammate Curry was himself responsible for revolutionizing the game to become more focused on the three-ball.
That said, Green spent pretty much all of All-Star week making increasingly outlandish comments. His comments about the NBA supposedly being “boring” though got him roasted alive by The Big O.
