Panthers say they have identified fan who threw punch, informed police

The Carolina Panthers were able to use video footage to identify the fan who ruthlessly punched another fan in the face during Thursday night’s game, and they have passed the assailant’s information along to the local authorities.

In a statement released on Friday, the Panthers said Charlotte police are going to pursue charges against the individual.

“We have reviewed video tape of the incident and have identified the perpetrator,” the statement read, via ESPN’s David Newton. “We are working with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department to pursue charges to the fullest extent of the law. The Carolina Panthers are committed to a fan-friendly and family-friendly stadium experience. The behavior exhibited by the perpetrator is unacceptable and will not be condoned at Bank of America Stadium.”

A Panthers fan was caught on video punching another fan — who was appeared much older — in the face several times during a dispute. According to the witness who shared the video, the man who threw the punch had irritated those who were sitting around him by standing throughout the majority of the game.
