The brother of a late NFL legend was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly crashed his car into a post office building, resulting in a fire.
A man was arrested at around 3 a.m. Sunday morning after a car crashed into the post office building in the 6500 block of Crown Boulevard in San Jose, Calif., according to a report from NBC Bay Area. The vehicle caught fire, which caused the building to go up in flames. No injuries were reported.
The San Jose Police Department said a suspect was taken into custody and that the circumstances surrounding the fire are under investigation. NBC Bay Area reports that the suspect, Richard Tillman, is the brother of former Arizona Cardinals defensive back Pat Tillman, who was a San Jose-area native.
While police did not confirm the identity of the suspect who drove into the post office, Richard Tillman was listed on the Santa Clara County Sheriff Office’s database as having been booked on Sunday and held without bail.
Pat Tillman played for the Cardinals from 1998-2001 before he gave up on his football career to enlist in the United States Army. Tillman, who was inspired to join the military after the 9/11 attacks, was killed by friendly fire in Afghanistan in 2004. He was 27.
Pat Tillman’s No. 40 jersey his been retired by the Cardinals. His No. 42 is retired at Arizona State, where he played in college. Tillman has been honored on numerous occasions throughout the years since he died while in active duty.
