Todd Gurley will be a game-time decision for the Los Angeles Rams’ Week 16 game against the Arizona Cardinals, but it sounds like the team would prefer to rest him if possible.
The Rams had previously said that Gurley would test things out in pregame to see whether he could play. He may still do that, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter says the team would like to rest him and play things cautiously.
Rams RB Todd Gurley, listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. Cardinals due to knee inflammation, wants to play but Rams want to be smart about it, per source. They plan to test Gurley pre-game to make final determination. But Rams would like to get him rest if any concerns.

If Gurley shows anything less than full strength in pregame, don’t expect him to play.
The Rams want to win because of the seeding battle in the NFC, but they don’t want it to come at the cost of the health of their star running back. They probably feel there is some leeway facing a weaker opponent in Arizona.
CJ Anderson and John Kelly are behind Gurley on the team’s depth chart.
