Ronald Jones reveals main reason for signing with Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs added Ronald Jones to their backfield this week, and there was one specific thing that drew the running back to the organization.
Jones cited Andy Reid’s offensive philosophy as a key factor behind him signing with the Chiefs. As Jones described it, Reid’s scheme ensures that “everybody’s going to eat.” Eat is slang for players receiving lots of opportunities to contribute in big ways.
“They fit very well, talking to Coach (Andy Reid) and Coach EB (Eric Bieniemy). Just seeing the things they do with running backs, I think my skill set translates perfectly,” Jones said Saturday, via Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports. “I think that’s another thing about the Andy Reid system, everybody’s going to eat. So, I’m excited to see my number get called and take it from there.”
Jones largely lost his regular role to Leonard Fournette with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and will have to compete with Clyde Edwards-Helaire for touches in Kansas City. He is clearly confident he can do it. He also has a point, as the Chiefs have tended to give touches to multiple running backs in the past several seasons.
