Teddy Bridgewater has a sense of humor about the bizarre scandal that led to a suspension from his high school coaching job.
Bridgewater is joining the Detroit Lions for a third stint as their backup quarterback, and the deal was finalized and announced on Monday. When he met with the media, Bridgewater was asked if he had any plans to ever return to high school coaching after he was suspended by Miami Northwestern Senior High School in Miami, Fla. for allegedly providing impermissible benefits to players.
Bridgewater did not rule it out, though he cracked a joke about where he might actually be willing to coach.
“I think I’m gonna do private school,” Bridgewater joked.

The joke for Bridgewater is that he might not face the same blowback at a private school as he did at Miami Northwestern. He has defended himself for his conduct at the school, saying he was simply trying to protect his players and keep them out of dangerous situations by paying for Uber rides for them.
Clearly, Bridgewater will not be returning to high school coaching for at least another year in light of his decision to sign with the Lions. He sounds like he is still stung by the experience when he was just trying to do right by his players.
