Troy Aikman rips Packers’ handling of Mike McCarthy firing
Did the Green Bay Packers do Mike McCarthy wrong by unceremoniously firing him before the end of the season? There are certainly some who feel this way, and you can count Troy Aikman among them.
The current Fox analyst and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback thinks McCarthy was owed more respect by the Packers thanks to his accomplishments over the years. He was critical of the franchise’s decision to fire McCarthy before season’s end after a 20-17 home loss to the lowly Arizona Cardinals.
Two losing seasons in 12 years (one of those last year without Rodgers for 9 games); took the Packers to the playoffs in 9 of the last 11 seasons; 4 NFC Championship Games, 1 Super Bowl title. Yes Gerry, he deserved better than to be fired mid-season. Is that cliche enough for ya https://t.co/e9ep6ysZxq

McCarthy accomplished a lot with Green Bay. He was also supposedly clashing with his star quarterback and losing games that his team had no business losing. The Packers’ decision was entirely justified before things got even worse.
