Report: Two teams could convince Jadeveon Clowney to leave Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks have pledged not to use the franchise tag on Jadeveon Clowney, which could lead to him hitting the open market.
The Seahawks remain interested in keeping Clowney, according to Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. However, there is speculation he could seek to set the market among edge rushers to the tune of close to $20 million per year. If the bidding rises to that territory, Seattle may be reluctant to get involved.
If the bidding does go that high, the Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts could reportedly get involved and spend that much to land Clowney.
The Seahawks made a solid investment in Clowney, even if he only rewarded them with 3.5 sacks in his first season with the team. This stands to be one of the more interesting sagas of the offseason, but if bidding gets high, it sure seems like Clowney might depart Seattle.
