Fertitta, along with his brother Lorenzo, own Zuffa, LLC, which is the company that used to own the UFC. They sold the company to WME-IMG for $4.2 billion.
Fertitta is currently the CEO of Station Casinos and would have to divest his interest in that company before being able to purchase an NFL team. Fertitta’s third-cousin, Tilman, purchased the Houston Rockets in 2017.
Back when there were initial rumors about the Fertittas selling the UFC, it was reported that they had interest in buying an NFL team. They now have their chance with Jerry Richardson selling the Panthers amid a scandal over his inappropriate work behavior.
