A blond model named Ashley Bongiovanni has become somewhat internet famous this week after she was captured by CBS doing her best to attract the attention of Rory McIlroy during the final round at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational in Akron on Sunday.
McIlroy hit his tee shot on the 15th hole and Bongiovanni was right behind him in the gallery looking pretty and running her hand through her hair in an attempt to get the No. 1-ranked golfer’s attention.
After a few folks on social media took note of the blonde in the crowd, Bongiovanni actively responded to get her name attached to the story. For instance, she replied to this tweet sent by CBS Sports’ Kyle Porter:

Bongiovanni began receiving some attention this week for her Katherine Webb-like moment, so our friends at “The Sports Junkies” on 106.7 The Fan brought her on the radio Wednesday morning.
In the interview, Bongiovanni tried to play it off like she’s more of a golf fan and wasn’t really trying to flirt with Rory. Bongiovanni told the hosts that it was her second year going to the event and that she attends because she’s trying to get more into golf.
“I enjoy it. I’m still learning and trying to get my hand going. What better way to learn than by watching the pros?” Bongiovanni told The Junkies.
Then she talked about the flirting moment on the 15th.
“I was trying to not be a distraction, but I did see him start coming my way … I didn’t know what to do, I just kind of gave him a coyish smile back.”
Asked bluntly whether she would go on a date with Rory if he asked, Bongiovanni played it cool.
“I don’t know if that would happen, but I can’t say I would turn that down.”
For someone who played it coy, Bongiovanni was pretty actively flirting with McIlroy over Twitter the past few days:

Whatever she says I’m not buying. Just look at the hair flip, the doe eyes and all the tweets. She wants Rory and there’s nothing wrong with admitting it.
