After reviewing Terrell Owens’ release from the Allen Wranglers last week, T.O.’s legal team has gotten back to him and apparently it’s given the green light to bring up a lawsuit against his former team. But first he’s going to give the Indoor Football League team an ultimatum.
According to TMZ, Owens is demanding the Wranglers write him a check for $160,000 and retract their accusation that the wideout missed a team appearance at a local children’s hospital. T.O.’s legal team issued a letter with the demands to the team on Friday. The Wranglers have until Tuesday to meet them or Owens will take the matter to court.
Team owner Jon Frankel has said the missed hospital appearance was T.O.’s final strike after several other actions that upset the team (T.O. angering somebody on his team? I don’t believe it!). But T.O. reportedly says that he wasn’t at the hospital because of a scheduling mix-up and the team has even privately acknowledged as much.
The $160,000 figure is indicative of the four game checks that Owens alleges the team hasn’t paid him. That amount should also substantially make up for the pathetic $50 the Wranglers paid him for his 50 percent ownership stake.
